When we look closely at the life of Dr. Sean Griffin, we're presented with a picture of a man who is highly successful, comfortably wealthy, and in extraordinarily popular demand as a speaker. It's a picture of a man who seems to have everything that he could possibly need in life. But he doesn't. His private life is an endless agony of the monotonous routine of coming home to an empty, lonely house. Dr. Sean Griffin is a man who does not flaunt his wealth, nor does he seem to appreciate it, for his wealth has become more of a ball and chain than a liberating element in his life. He chooses to live a seemingly austere life, taking on the persona of a man who dwells amidst conservative, yet comfortable surroundings. At the university, he's viewed as a man who is dedicated to his field of study, and oblivious to the joys of life around him. His life away from the university is a mystery to his colleagues and his students. He never joins in, or even shows an interest in social activities. He's a man who possesses scars from his years of being highly consumed by his brokerage business, and his obsession to make more and more money, both of which had cost him his first marriage. He's a man who has become so lonely in life that he has constructed a wall around his emotions. He longs for the comradeship of a companion, one whom he could trust, rely on, and love without reservation, but has no idea where to find such a relationship. But there is someone among his constituents who may hold the key to his happiness.
