Through the years, people have tried anything possible to achieve impossible goals. There are tales and fables of young men, selling their souls at the crossroads in the Deep South so the devil would make them great musicians. Many did so only to end up, as history tells us, penniless and alone when they died. Then there are those who would search and seek out gypsies or witch doctors to obtain spells or potions to gain the goal they were seeking. But what if someone received a very unusual gift just because he was kind and friendly to something that seemed to be an everyday creature of the world, who, by the hundreds of thousands, has only nature to provide substance to survive? This great and wonderful gift is given to an openhearted person who showed concern about something that was very small and fragile. This gift, given freely, and without any want for return, shows a bond between man and nature. After obtaining high and impossible goals, man does what he is best at---thinking he is the master of knowledge and wisdom and has achieved these goals though his own might. He believes he stands alone with his achievement and glory, then turns his back to the very one who had, in fact, made it possible. What fate awaits this person who should have been eternally grateful but instead who stands alone, with a high head, and without his bonded friend? This is the story of one such man. A man who was never known any kind of achievement, much less anything of a high standard being a small object himself. He showed concern for something smaller than himself, then he became a great achiever, only to turn away from the very thing that had blessed him, leaving his bonded friend to fight for his simple survival.
