Up from Appalachia is the fictional story of my grandfather, Lan Wilson and his struggle to gain status while he was such a young yet strong and able man to compete with older men in the logging camps of his father in law. Some of the older men working in the camp tended to take advantage of the younger men, many times even robbing them. The point was that they wanted to be in control more that their need for his wages.
